There's a new character joining Heartbeat this week.

Former Corrie actress Nikki Sanderson plays Dawn, the niece of Gina whose PC husband Phil Bellamy died recently.

Claire Goose

A new character appears in The Bill this week as actress Claire Goose has signed up for an 18 month stint in the show.

Claire plays Sgt Rachel Weston. She first came to notice as nurse Tina Seabrook in Casualty & played cold case detective Mel Silver in Waking the Dead for four years.

Claire describes her new character as "adventurous, a tomboy and very proud of the uniform".

Claire makes her first appearance on Wednesday 6th August.
